It is now just over two years since the first Covid-19 case was reported in Aotearoa. The impact that the pandemic has had here and around the world has been unprecedented in our lifetimes. The current spread of Omicron in the community is the latest challenge for us to face.

It is not a challenge we face alone, and it has been heartening to see how whānau have been supporting each other.

If you are based in Te Tauihu, and you or someone in your whare has Covid-19 and needs support, you can call Te Piki Oranga on 0800 672 642, and they can assist by providing a care plan, kai packages, prescription pick-ups and other support.

The website and Facebook page of Te Kotahi o Te Tauihu Charitable Trust is regularly updated and includes links to the online karakia for Te Tauihu which is held every Sunday night.

If you are in other places around Aotearoa, you can get information about what support is available when you are self-isolating. You can also find an overview of information for whānau and Māori communities here.

The next few months are critical to the success of our winery, vineyard and horticulture teams with upcoming harvests, and also for the current operations taking place across our other worksites, including Kono seafood. While we cannot control the virus, we can mitigate the risk. Our teams are all working within strict protocols to keep themselves safe and to allow us to continue to operate our businesses.

While the last two years have been disruptive on many levels, we continue to draw on the qualities of our tūpuna – perseverance, flexibility and adaptability - to help us get through these challenging times.

We hope to be able to see many of you in person at our rescheduled special general meeting in June.

Kia manawanui,

Paul Morgan
Chair
Wakatū Incorporation

Saturday 18 June – new date for 2022 SGM

We now plan to hold the special general meeting (SGM) on Saturday 18 June at Te Papa in Te Whanganui-a-Tara. This new date replaces the original date of 26 March, which was postponed due to Covid-19.

Our ability to hold the SGM kanohi ki te kanohi will be dependent on the situation with Covid-19. We will continue to provide updates via our e-pānui, website and social media channels.

Second part of 2021 dividend payment

At the annual general meeting held online in December 2021, the shareholders passed the resolution declaring a tax-free dividend for the 2020/2021 financial year and the dividend payment was made at the end of 2021.

As part of the resolution, it was agreed that, conditional on normalised trading conditions at the time of the 2022 SGM, an additional dividend payment would be paid.

As the SGM has been postponed from March to June 2022, the decision on the second part of the payment will be made at the Wakatū board meeting on Friday 25 March.  Shareholders will be advised by letter after the board decision has been made.

Saturday 3 December 2022 - annual general meeting

Our annual general meeting will be held on Saturday 3 December 2022. We plan to hold the meeting in person in Nelson and online. More details about how to register will be provided later in the year.

As with the last two years, our ability to hold the meeting in person will depend on the situation with Covid-19. We will keep you updated through our e-pānui, website and social media channels.
