Opened in 2008, at the heart of Wakatū House is an 8.5 metre poupou carved from a 40,000 year old swamp kauri log in Northland.

The poupou depicts the migration story of our ancestors. With four floors the whare (house) has Māori visual and experiential elements throughout, representing the culture and heritage of Wakatū owners.
