Wakatū Incorporation invites applications for Taiohi Wānanga 2019

Opening date for sending applications is 9 April 2019
Closing date for receiving applications is 31 May 2019

The taiohi wānanga is gender specific - in 2019 it is for tamatane (young men) aged between  13-18 years, who whakapapa to a Wakatū shareholder, and who are attending school.

The wānanga will take place on Monday 30 September to Friday 4 October in the school holidays, between terms 3 and 4. The wānanga is marae-based and includes excursions into the Abel Tasman National Park by water and track. The wānanga includes: waka ama, mau rākau, haka, waiata , tribal history, environmental responsibility, goal setting, career pathways and an overview of Wakatū and its associated businesses.

As part of your application, please include a cover letter. Your cover letter should tell us why the applicant would like to be involved in the taiohi wānanga, including how the applicant would benefit from the experience. 

Costs associated with the wānanga are covered by Wakatū. All tamatane are encouraged to apply.
