Our ancestors have always been supreme navigators of the sea and found the finest catch. Harvesting this kaimoana (seafood) with respect and care, Port Nicholson Fisheries (PNF) continues this tradition and shares with the world one of the sea's finest gifts - New Zealand Rock Lobster (kekewai).

PNF is New Zealand’s largest independent processor of rock lobster (Jasus edwardü). The company’s extensive processing facilities, coupled with the most up-to-date technology, makes its catch desirable around the world. Currently, our biggest markets are Asia and the United States of America.

The deep oceans surrounding New Zealand’s pristine shores are home to some of the world’s largest lobster. At PNF we source ours from the isolated Chatham Islands zone (CRA6), the shallow Gisborne catchment (CRA3), the rugged West Coast in the South Island stretching all the way up to New Plymouth in the north (CRA9) and the Wellington, Hawkes Bay and Wairarapa regions (CRA4).

Lobster are carefully harvested from the cleanest, clearest waters of the Pacific Ocean.

PNF has now expanded operations into Australia. The company has purchased around 100 crayfish pots (cray pots are the Australian equivalent of the NZ quota system). The Western Australian crayfish fishery is the third largest fishery for crayfish in the world, making this a valuable investment. It is also an important stepping-stone into future fish processing and export in Western Australia.

Port Nicholson Fisheries is the result of a partnership between two successful Maori business trusts- Parininihi Ki Waitotara Incorporation and Wakatu Incorporation - and George Stavrinos. Each party owns approxmately 40 tonnes of New Zealand crayfish quota.
