We will call for applications for the 2009/10 Associate Director in September 2008
As owners will be aware, Wakatu has an Associate Director Scheme. The long-term goal is to encourage “young blood” onto the Board by providing shareholders and their whanau with the opportunity to gain experience in the governance of Wakatu Incorporation, with a view to them becoming nominees for future board elections.
As our businesses get more complicated, it is vital that future directors are equipped with the necessary commercial skills and understanding of the history and peoples of Te Tau Ihu.
The scheme has been reviewed and the most significant change is that Associate Directors are now appointed for two years – the first year on a Sector Board and the second on the Head Board. We have also introduced introduced a stronger mentoring aspect.
Our 2008/09 Associate Director is Jeremy Banks, and previous Associate Directors were Miriana Ikin, Chris Atutahi, Johnny McGregor, Bentham Ohia and Emma Park.
The Board is looking for applicants, with existing or potential business acumen, who are dedicated to contributing towards Wakatu Incorporation’s on-going development.
Applicants must be shareholders or whanau of shareholders and must fully complete the application form and write a 500-word statement setting our their reasons for wishing to be an Associate Director and their vision for Wakatu Incorporation, including how the whanau whanui may develop themselves.
Please be encouraged to apply even if you have previously applied, as we will need confident and experienced people to guide our development in the future.
