Educational scholarship recipients for 2000
The first of our annual Education Scholarships were awarded in 2000.
The three inaugural tertiary scholarships were presented at the Incorporation's 21st birthday celebrations in 1999. Funding for the gramts was contributed by West Yates, WestpacTrust and our solicitors, Pitt and Moore. The Incorporation funded two further tertiary scholarships.
46 applications were received for the tertiary scholarships. They came from all over New Zealand and the extremely high calibre of the applicants made the selection of recipients no easy task. It was an excellent and encouraging start to our programme.
The successful applicants were:
Marama Warr: Successfully renewed her scholarship for the third and final year.
Miriana Ikin (nee Stephens): Miriana was admitted to the bar in May 2001, and in May 2002 was appointed the 2002 Associate Director – congratulations! Final scholarship year put on hold until 2003.
