Ngatahi Horticulture is based in Motueka, at the top of the South Island of New Zealand.

 

In August 2005 the Horticultural Divisions of Wakatu Incorporation and Ngati Rarua Atiawa Iwi Trust merged to form Ngatahi Horticulture Partnership.

 

Wakatu Incorporation is based in Nelson and has over 3,000 shareholders who are descendants of the chiefs and families of four tribes – Ngati Koata, Ngati Rarua, Ngati Tama and Te Atiawa. These tribes held authority over the Nelson-Motueka-Golden Bay lands at the time of European settlement in 1841.

 

Ngati Rarua Atiawa Iwi Trust (NRAIT) is a charitable trust with over 2,000 beneficiaries.

Members are descendants of the people of Ngati Rarua and Te Atiawa who have specific historical links to the lands of Motueka.

 

Ngatahi is kaitiaki (guardian) of Wakatu and NRAIT horticultural land and is committed to the sustainable production of fruit grown to the specific requirements of our global markets.
