Toni Grant | CEO

Since 2005 Toni has been employed in a number of senior executive roles at Wakatu Incorporation. Toni’s previous roles at Wakatu were Group Financial Controller and General Manager Strategy and Performance. Toni is a Chartered Accountant and graduate of Massey University in Palmerston North. She has two young children.

Phil Kilgour | Operations Manager

Phil has lived in Marlborough for over four years, moving from Oamaru with his family for a change in career. He enjoys working for Kono Seafood, with the challenges and opportunities it offers as well as learning experiences. Prior to this role Phil spent 22 years within the meat industry. He is currently a representative for Kono Seafood on the Executive Committee of the Marine Farming Association.

Simon Perfect | Seafood Sales Manager

Simon has a Bachelor of Science from the University of Canterbury and a degree in Operations Research. Simon has spent the last 13 years in international sales roles within the seafood industry. Born and bred in Christchurch, Simon is now well established in Nelson with his young daughter and wife.

Dean Higgins | On Water Manager

Dean has worked within the mussel industry for the last twenty years, joining the Kono team early in 2011. He really enjoys watching young Kono crew members develop in skills and as individuals – as well as the team out on the water enjoying their jobs. Originally from Nelson, Dean now lives in Blenheim with his family.

Nigel McKinstry | Production Manager

Nigel has twenty years management experience, ten of which are in the seafood sector. An Australian by birth, Nigel has also spent many years working within the hospitality and security sector. Nigel currently resides in Nelson with his family.

Stefan Stewart | Technical Manager

With a young family and passion for improving processes, Stefan is inspired by the values which drive the organisation. Stefan has a Bachelor in Technology majoring in food, and has undertaken similar roles with Coca Cola, Lion Nathan and Inghams.

Mark Allsopp | Research and Development Manager

Mark has a PhD in Agribusiness and a Bachelor of Aquaculture. He has been involved in Fisheries and Aquaculture development projects with a focus on temperate water aquaculture and the lobster industry. He has also been involved in several start up Seafood businesses in Australia and Africa.
